George Martin

George Martin - a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away peacefully in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on January 21, 2024, following a short illness. Born on January 18, 1946, in Lewisporte, Newfoundland, George's life was characterized by his loving nature, kindness and friendly demeanor.

George will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Evelyn, with whom he shared 55 years of memories and adventures. He was a proud father to his daughter, Stephanie, and a doting grandfather to his grandchildren, Eva and Eli, who brought immense joy and laughter into his life.

George will be deeply missed by his sister Viola and her husband Earnest, his brother James and his wife Alfreda, and a community of family and friends who were touched by his warmth and generosity. His passing is preceded by that of his parents, Tom and Myrle Martin, his brothers Harold (Ruby) and Charles (Patsy), and his sisters Sheila (Allen) and Louise, who
have welcomed him into eternal rest.

George's zest for life was evident in his love of the great outdoors. He was often found enjoying picnics and trips with his family, creating memories that would last a lifetime. In his later years, when mobility became a challenge, George found joy in going for scenic drives around the city. A particular favourite spot of his was Sir Sanford Fleming park where he would watch the activities in Northwest Arm, always with a twinkle in his eye and a story to share.

Rest in peace, George, your love and laughter have left an indelible mark on this world, and you will forever be in our hearts.
